Important Visa information

• Visa processing starts only after the Embassy has received all the necessary documents. The Embassy strongly advises one not to confirm the travel arrangements until one has received their visa.
• Once you receive your passport with your visa, please check your visa for: 
  • stamp on your visa;
  • the spelling of your name (as in your passport);
  • the date of issue;
  • the date of expiry;
  • the passport number;
  • the type of visa - the number of entries.
• Please, note that visas cannot be extended at the Embassy. If your travel plans change after the visa was issued, you have to apply for a new visa.
• To extend the term of stay in the Republic of Belarus, a foreign national should apply to local office of Citizenship and Migration Department at the place of registration in order to obtain:
  • an exit visa
  • a sojourn permit and, if necessary, an exit-entry visa in addition to it
• At the border crossing point to Belarus foreign nationals are required to complete a migration card and submit it to the immigration officer.
• Upon arrival to Belarus visitors are required to register at the local citizenship and migration office of the Ministry of Interior of Belarus within 5 business days. Thereafter, local police authorities will issue a registration stamp, which will be attached to the visitor's passport. If the visitor is staying in a hotel, this will be arranged by the hotel services (reception bureau).

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
