From August 1, 2006, all visa applications by citizens and residents of the Republic of Lithuania must be submitted to the consular section of the Embassy of Belgium in Poland due to reorganization of Belgian consular services in the Baltic region.

For Belgian citizens the Consular Section provides standard consular services, such as issuing passports, identity and electronic identity cards, as well as consular certificates and legalization.  When requesting a Belgian passport or ID card an application completed and signed in black ink is required, together with other supporting documentation. The application can be downloaded from the Embassies website. The waiting period is usually 2-4 weeks.

Belgian citizens residing in Lithuania are advised to register with the Embassy. Although this is not mandatory, it is still recommended, as the Belgian identity cards are valid only for two months after one has been deleted from the Belgian population registers.
