There is no need for a visa if the traveler arrives in Brazil on a flight, remains in the international transit area, without passing through immigration control, and departs on another flight from the same airport.
Citizens of foreign countries traveling to Brazil on tourism are normally required to obtain a visa prior to entering Brazil. This requirement complies with reciprocity toward countries that demand Brazilian citizens to hold a visa in order to enter into their territories.
Citizens of Portugal do not require a tourist visa to visit Brazil for stays not exceeding 90 days.
Citizens of countries that are not exempt from a visa to Brazil must provide the following documents when applying for a tourist visa:
- Application form;
- Passport valid for no less than 6 months, with at least 2 blank pages;
- Return tickets (entering and leaving Brazil);
- Proof of means of support;
- Other additional information or documentation requested by the Embassy/Consulate.
