The Embassy of Brazil in Singapore is one of the more than 220 diplomatic and consular missions of Brazil around the world. It represents the government of Brazil in the Republic of Singapore and maintains permanent communication with local authorities, government officials and the private sector, with a view to strengthening political, business and friendship ties between the two nations.

The Consular Section of the Embassy provides documents and assistance to Brazilian citizens who are visiting or residing in Singapore and offers visas and document legalisation services to foreigners travelling to or dealing with Brazil.

Consular functions of the Embassy of Brazil:

  • to provide assistance to Brazilian nationals ;
  • to protect the interests of Brazilian nationals in transit, resident or domiciled in the area of its jurisdiction, to look after equitable and non-discriminatory treatment as well as full respect for their dignity and their rights and to offer emergency assistance should it be required;
  • to provide guidance in case of death abroad of a Brazilian citizen;
  • to register and issue birth, marriage and death certificates;
  • to issue passports;
  • to issue military draft certificates;
  • to carry out the electoral draft;
  • to issue consular identity cards;
  • to authenticate documents so that they are deemed valid in Brazil;
  • to issue certain types of certificates and notifications;
  • to process requests for entry visas for foreign nationals travelling to Brazil.

Documents issued in Singapore must be validated by the Brazilian Embassy in order to be officially recognized in Brazil. This applies to powers-of-attorney, contracts, commercial bids, diplomas, school transcripts, donation letters, and any document to be lodged at a judicial court in Brazil.  Before presenting the document must be legalized by the Embassy, it must be certified by a local Notary Public. Submission to the Embassy of the original document must be authenticated, together with appropriate legalization fee.

Except for official documents issued by a government authority, as well as diplomas or school transcripts, all other documents must be locally authenticated by a Notary Public prior to submission to the Embassy. Consular authentications will be normally issued within one working day, assuming submission is properly documented.

Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil as tourists or as participants in conferences, seminars, artistic or sports events must have a ‘Tourist Visa'. At least two weeks before expiration of the first granted period, tourists may apply for a single extension of an additional 90 days, granted at the discretion of the Brazilian Immigration Authority.

Tourist visas will be processed in 1 working day, provided all the necessary documents are presented.

Requirements for a tourist visa:

  • Visa application form;
  • Applicant's passport, valid for no less than 6 months;
  • Original or photocopy of a valid return ticket itinerary;
  • Original company letter stating that the applicant is regularly employed, indicating position and salary or an original bank account statement indicating transactions and available balance;
  • In case of conference, the invitation or registration letter from Brazil;
  • For underage applicants the parental travel consent is compulsory. Both parents must come to the Embassy to sign the consent form before the Consular Authority and must present original Singapore IC or passport and the under aged applicant's Birth Certificate.

Emergency Technical Assistance Visa is issued, under exceptional circumstances, to foreign citizens travelling to Brazil to provide emergency technical assistance in cases where an unexpected situation has arisen, which puts human lives or the environment at immediate risk or which interrupts production.

Visa fees must be deposited in cash at United Overseas Bank (UOB). No payment at the Embassy.
