Brazil and South Korea established political-diplomatic relations in June 1959. Since its opening, in 1965, the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul has been fostering dialogue and cooperation between the two countries and offering assistance to Brazilian citizens.
Consular services provided by the Embassy:
- Issuance of visas;
- Issuance of passports;
- Legalization of documents;
- Issuance of birth, marriage, death certificates;
- Assistance in cases of emergency.
In case of loss, theft or destruction of a Brazilian passport, it should be immediately reported to the Brazilian authority that issued the passport or the nearest Brazilian Embassy or Consulate. It is also recommended to keep a photocopy of a passport which helps when applying for a new passport.
Citizens of the Republic of Korea are exempt from tourist visas and from business visas for a period not exceeding 90 days. It should be noted that tourist visa applies only to the case of a tourism trip or a visit to relatives and/or friends. Business visa applies to travelers with the purpose of visiting Brazilian companies or commercial contacts.
Citizens of other countries should check if they need a tourist/business visa to Brazil. Visas are processed in at least 5 working days, although the processing time may vary according to the type of visa and documentation presented.
Foreign documents must be legalized by the Brazilian consular section with jurisdiction over the location where the document was issued, with a view to be officially acknowledged in Brazil.
