Consular services provided by the Embassy:

In case Bulgarian citizen loses his/her passport abroad, Bulgarian Embassy may issue a temporary travel document which is valid for one year.

Citizens of Belgium do not need visas to visit Bulgaria for a period of stay up to 90 days, so they can travel to Bulgaria only with their national ID-card or with their passport. It should be noted that the travel document needs to be valid for at least 3 months after the end of the intended stay in Bulgaria.

The Consular office would like to draw on the attention of citizens willing to certify documents translated in Belgium and Luxembourg that due to the existing controversial practice in Bulgaria, in some cases Bulgarian institutions may reject translations performed abroad when documents are submitted in a private manner regardless of the fact that the signature of the translator is certified by the diplomatic mission. It is advised to have documents issued in Belgium and Luxembourg and certified by an "Apostille" translated in Bulgaria.

The Embassy issues only a Laissez-passer mortuaire.
