Diplomatic missions of the Republic of Bulgaria abroad (such as embassies, consulates general, consulates and honorary consulates) provide consular assistance and consular services to Bulgarian citizens and legal entities abroad, as well as to citizens of the EU Member States that have no diplomatic missions in the host country, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, the international treaties to which Bulgaria is a party, and the laws of the host country. Bulgarian missions abroad have no police powers and cannot issue orders to institutions in the host country.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:         

• Issuance of passports;
• Issuance of civil status documents;
• Legalization of documents;
• Notarial services;
• Issuance of visas;
• Issuance of identity cards;
• Issuance of driver's license;
• Issuance of temporary travel documents;
• Assistance to Bulgarian citizens in cases of emergency;
• Dealing with citizenship matters.  

In case Bulgarian citizen loses his/her passport abroad, Bulgarian Embassy may issue a temporary travel document which is valid for one year.

Citizens of Denmark do not need visas to visit Bulgaria for visit of up to 90 days.

Citizens of the EU (including Denmark), EEC (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein) and Switzerland are exempted from the requirement to have a long-term visa and from the requirement to have "work permit" when staying in Bulgaria for the period of more than 90 days.
