Since 2010, there has been an important upgrading of Bulgarian and South Korean relations with the declaration of strategic partnership between the EU and ROK and with the signature of two landmark agreements: the Framework Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement. Both countries share important fundamental values of democracy, market economy and protection of human rights. That is the main reason why the political dialogue between both countries is very intensive, especially in the recent years.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Issuance of passports;
• Issuance of visas;
• Issuance of identity cards;
• Issuance of driver's license;
• Issuance of temporary travel documents;
• Issuance of civil status documents;
• Legalization of documents;
• Notarial services;
• Assistance to Bulgarian citizens in cases of emergency;
• Dealing with citizenship matters.

Citizens who lost, damaged or destroyed their passports shall pay fines as per the administrative and criminal provisions of the Bulgarian Identity Documents Act. Bulgarian consular officers abroad can issue a temporary passport upon payment of the respective fees.

Citizens of South Korea are not required to hold a visa to visit Bulgaria for stays of up to 90 days.
