The Embassy covers the countries of Russia, Armenia and Uzbekistan, and also provides visa services to residents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Canadian Embassy provides these consular services:

  • Assists Canadian citizens in cases of emergency;
  • Registers Canadian citizens abroad;
  • Issues and renews passports;
  • Registers births of children abroad;
  • Allows Canadian citizens abroad to participate in electoral events;
  • Deals with adoption and citizenship matters.

If Canadian passport or travel document is lost or stolen, Canadian government offices abroad can issue an emergency travel document or a temporary passport if in urgent, proven need and stranded in a foreign country.

Citizens of Russia are required to hold a visa to visit or transit Canada.

Requirements for a visit visa:

  • Visa application;
  • Fee payment in an acceptable format;
  • Valid passports;
  • Photocopy of current immigration document, if applicable;
  • Proof of financial support;
  • Photocopy of valid return ticket and/or travel itinerary, if applicable;
  • If minor travelling alone or with one parent: custody documents or a letter of authorization from the other non accompanying parent or a letter of authorization signed by both parents or legal guardians;
  • Any additional documents required by the responsible visa office.

When visitors visit the Embassy, they must present the original of their internal national passport or other suitable identity documents bearing photographs. When visitors visit the Immigration Section, they must also present an invitation letter from the Immigration Section requesting them to come in person.

Luggage, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages larger than a standard handbag, are not allowed into the Embassy. The Embassy offers no storage facilities and applicants carrying such items will not be allowed entry. If visitors are travelling with luggage, they must secure it elsewhere before approaching the Embassy.

Applicants are also discouraged from bringing mobile phones or other electronic devices, such as Blackberries, iPods, PDAs and remote-entry automobile keys, to the Embassy. Holders of such items will be delayed for searches and examination. 

It should be noted that food and drinks are not permitted within the Embassy. Still water is available in the waiting area.

The Embassy is closed on statutory holidays.
