The relationship between Canada and Singapore is a wide-ranging one, characterized by cooperation in a variety of areas, including security and defence, governance and the rule of law, pluralism, trade, and science and technology.

The High Commission also offers the following services:

The High Commission provides consular services related to these matters:

  • Arrest and detention;
  • Child abduction and custody issues;
  • Evacuations;
  • Natural disasters and civil emergencies;
  • Financial assistance;
  • Lost or stolen belongings abroad;
  • Sickness or injury;
  • Missing persons;
  • Lost, stolen, damaged or found passports;

  • Canadian passport;

Once Canadian passport has been reported lost or stolen, it is no longer valid and cannot be used for travel. This is to ensure that it is not used for fraudulent purposes. Before the passport can be replaced, Canadian authorities will conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the loss or theft. This may lead to delays in processing the replacement passport.

The Immigration Section in Singapore serves as the Regional Processing Centre responsible for the processing of applications for citizens and residents of the following countries:

Applications for Temporary Resident (Visitor) Visa, Study Permits, Work Permits, Travel Documents (for Permanent Residents Returning to Canada) – Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, and Singapore. Applications for Permanent Residence (Immigration) – Bangladesh, Brunei, Burma, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

As of May 1st, 2014, the High Commission of Canada in Singapore will accept visa applications submitted online or through one of the visa application centres (VACs) in Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore.

While citizens of Singapore may not need a visa to visit or transit Canada, they still need to show an immigration officer that they satisfy all other requirements to enter Canada:

  • have a valid travel document, such as passport,
  • are in good health,
  • convince an immigration officer that they have ties - such as a job, home, financial assets or family - that will take them back to their home country,
  • convince an immigration officer that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit, and
  • have enough money for their stay.

Fees – payable in SGD or CAD only – are non-refundable and subject to change (from exchange rate fluctuation) without notice. Please bring exact change for cash payments. Payments by credit card (accept VISA or Master Card) are charged in CAD only.
