Starting March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

Citizens of Switzerland need an eTA to visit or transit through Canada by air. If they travel by land or sea, they will not need an eTA when they enter Canada. However, they must travel with proper identification – a valid passport.

Applying for an eTA is a simple online process that takes just a few minutes. To apply the applicant must have a valid passport, credit card, and email address.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
