The Embassy of Canada in Ankara offers a number of services to both Canadians and Turks. In addition, the Embassy represents Canadian interests in Azerbaijan, Georgia & Turkmenistan.

Services offered at the Embassy of Canada to Turkey in Ankara:

  • Visa and immigration services;
  • Services to help companies do business with Canada;
  • Services to Canadian companies;
  • Assistance to Canadians;
  • Information about studying in Canada.

If Canadian citizen’s passport or travel document is lost or stolen, Canadian government offices abroad can issue an emergency travel document or a temporary passport if they are in urgent, proven need and are stranded in a foreign country.

The Visa and Immigration Section does not accept enquiries in person or by phone.

Citizens of Turkey are required to hold visas to visit or transit Canada.

Basic requirements to visit Canada:

  • have a valid travel document, such as a passport,
  • be in good health,
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions,
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country,
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit, and
  • have enough money for your stay. (The amount of money you will need can vary. It depends on things such as how long you will stay, and whether you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.)

Visa applicants may also need a:

  • medical exam,
  • letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

Please note that proper ID must be presented in order to enter the Embassy.

For security reasons, visitors cannot bring wireless devices including cellular phones, computers, cameras, PDA (personal data assistant) into the Embassy. If you have no other alternative, those instruments may be left, once turned off, with the guards at the entrance. Neither the Embassy nor the security company will take any responsibility for the loss of any personal effects left at the entrance.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
