In case of a lost passport the applicants must notify the nearest Chilean Consulate in the country where the loss occurred, as the passport needs to be blocked. After recording the loss the Chilean citizen can request a new passport to leave the country.
Each consulate will have to verify the information delivered by the applicant for a new passport or ID card, therefore the delivery of the passport is not immediate. In case the person needs to return to Chile immediately he or she can request a one way return pass.
