Chinese Embassy ensures all nationals' protection against the violation of their fundamental rights and the limitation or privation of their personal freedom. They also ensure emergency assistance; help in locating family members, inheritance procedures initiated abroad and the repatriation of bodily remains. The consular services include:
- Registry of Chinese nationals abroad;
- Consular protection;
- Citizenship matters;
- Notary services;
- Passports;
- Civil status, etc.
Documents issued in Singapore to be used in China should be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in Singapore before they are sent to China.
Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
Chinese Embassy does not directly accept ordinary visa applications from the applicants. For ordinary Chinese visa application, applicants must proceed to China Visa Application Service Centre located at 80 Robinson Road, #16-01/02/02A, Singapore 068898.
Documents required:
- Passport;
- Visa application form and photo;
- Proof of legal stay or residence status;
- Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or precious Chinese visas;
- Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc. or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China.
Ordinary passport holders of Singapore traveling to China for the purposes of business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit for less than 15 days starting from the date of entry are exempted from visa
Applications can generally be picked up on the fourth working day from the date of submitting. Authentication fees are S$30 per civil document and S$60 per commercial and business document. Rush application can be picked up on the second working day and additional S$35 will be charged.
The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
