Chinese Embassy ensures all co-nationals protection against the violation of their fundamental rights and the limitation or privation of their personal freedom. Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.

Legalization means the authentication of a signature of seal/stamp appearing on a document. To have documents which originate in Finland accepted in the People's Republic of China, you shall go to the Legalization Office of the Finnish Foreign Affairs Ministry to authenticate the signatures or seals of local notary publics. Then you may come to the Embassy to legalize the signatures of the officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Please be advised that the legalization only confirms that the signature and seals of the officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry on your document are genuine. It does NOT mean that the contents of the document are correct or the Embassy approves of the contents. If the content of a document is deemed to be illegal, detrimental or immoral in China, legalization will be rejected.
