Passport Authorizations permit limitless entries into Cuba without the need of any other formalities than the original application. This allows Cuban emigrants to stay in Cuba for 30 days, a stay that can be extended for a maximum of 30 additional days by making an application in person at the Immigration Office closest to the residence of their family in Cuba. This Authorization is not intended for PRE and PSI holders. These must continue requesting their PRE-3for entry into Cuba. This authorization procedure is made only once. When it is granted, it has indefinite validity. The application can be made at the Cuban Consulate which will be in charge of dispatching it to Cuban Immigration Services, and these will either approve or refuse its granting. A corresponding form must be filled out.
In the event the authorization is refused, their family in Cuba can make the application for an entrance permit that would be granted for humanitarian reasons (serious illness or death in the immediate family). This permit can only be requested in Cuba before the migratory authorities by the family of the Cuban citizen who wishes to travel.
