In the case of a lost Passport, besides complying with the requirements from sub-article 2 to sub-article 5, a police report for lost property must be presented along with a photocopy of the lost Passport: if there is no photocopy, a Birth Certificate must be presented or other certificate stating the Cuban citizenship.
In the procedures are followed by mail, a bank-certified cheque must be sent, accompanied by a self-addressed envelope bearing enough postage for the documents to be returned to the applicant by Certified Mail. A new Passport will not be delivered if the expired Passport has not been sent. Please do not mail cash.
Applications for new Passports must be made two months before the date of intended travel.
Cuban Passports are valid for a total of 6 years and may be extended for two years every two years. Passport extensions are made once every two years and, to have the right for a second extension, payment for the right to the first extension must have been made.
Passport Authorizations permit limitless entries into Cuba without the need of any other formalities than the original application. This allows Cuban emigrants to stay in Cuba for 30 days, a stay that can be extended for a maximum of 30 additional days by making an application in person at the Immigration Office closest to the residence of their family in Cuba. This Authorization is not intended for PRE and PSI holders. These must continue requesting their PRE-3for entry into Cuba. This authorization procedure is made only once. When it is granted, it has indefinite validity. The application can be made at the Cuban Consulate which will be in charge of dispatching it to Cuban Immigration Services, and these will either approve or refuse its granting. A corresponding form must be filled out.
