The Embassy's main mission is to promote and further enhance the political, economic, cultural and trade relations between Cyprus and the nine countries of Embassy’s accreditation. Furthermore, the Embassy provides general information on Cyprus to the public, offers consular services to Cypriot nationals visiting or living in China or any of the countries of Embassy's accreditation, as well as consular services to foreigners who wish to visit Cyprus or establish contacts with Cyprus in different fields.

At the same time, it is noted that Embassy of Cyprus, apart from China, is also accredited and covers the following countries:

  • Japan
  • Republic of Korea (South Korea) 
  • Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) 
  • Mongolia
  • Lao People’s Democratic Republic
  • Kingdom of Cambodia

Consular services:

  • Certification of authenticity of signature;
  • Certification of  a document as a true copy;
  • Legalization of signature/seal on a document;
  • Issuing of a passport and identity card;
  • Issuing of a temporary travel document;
  • Registering a child as a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus (issuing of a consular  birth certificate);
  • Financial assistance;
  • Issuing of visas.

The Diplomatic Missions of the Republic of Cyprus can issue visas only to persons who intend to visit Cyprus for holidays/leisure or business and for a period not exceeding 90 days within any 180 days. 
Those intending to visit Cyprus for stays exceeding 90 days and/or for the purpose of providing paid labour or services, pursuing studies in academic institutions, working part-time (even as part of their training) or getting married, have to first obtain the relevant permit from the Ministry of Interior– Civil Registry and Migration Department and then apply for a visa at the Embassy. 

Chinese nationals, holders of ordinary passports, need a visa to travel to Cyprus. 
Chinese nationals, holders of diplomatic and service passports are exempted from the visa obligation, on the basis of the bilateral Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visas between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Government of the People’s Republic of China (24 July 1990). 
Residents of Hong Kong and Macao do not need a visa to travel to Cyprus for short stays not exceeding 90 days within a period of 180 days.
Nationals of Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia and North Korea also need a visa to travel to Cyprus.
Nationals of Japan and South Korea do not need a visa to travel to Cyprus, for short stays not exceeding 90 days within a period of 180 days.

Document requirements for visiting Cyprus for individual tourism:

  • Visa application form.
  • One recent passport sized photograph.
  • National passport.
  • ID card.
  • Hukou (only for Chinese nationals).
  • Residence permit of China for foreign nationals who live in China.
  • Flight reservation and/or itinerary of travel arrangements.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Travel program.
  • Bank statement of at least the past 3 months.
  • Recent letter from the employer for employed persons only.
  • Business license.
  • Proof of pension for retired persons only.
  • Original letter of employment and income of the spouse and original notary certificate of marriage or any other proof of regular income for unemployed adults only.
  • Letter from the school or university and student card for students only.
  • Certificate of permission to travel, certificate of family relation and birth certificate for minor applicants only.

Please note that the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Beijing (Visa Section) may in justified individual cases, request additional documents during the examination of an application which are not mentioned in the above list.

All visa applicants have to personally apply for a visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Beijing. A non-refundable amount of 20 Euros for a single entry visa or 60 Euros for a double or multiple entry visa should be paid upon submission of application. Processing time of application is 7 working days. 
All visa applications must be submitted at least seven 7 working days before the visit to Cyprus. 

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
