Priorities of the Czech Embassy in Lisbon are to strengthen bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Portugal, and the Czech Republic and the Republic of Cape Verde; to promote trade and economic cooperation; to provide political dialogue with emphasis on EU matters; to promote the Czech Republic; to provide consular services for citizens of the Czech Republic; to promote cooperation in the fields of culture and education.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Issues passports, driving licenses;
  • Deals with citizenship matters;
  • Issues birth, marriage certificates;
  • Allows Czech citizens to participate in national elections;
  • Provides the translation of documents;
  • Assists Czech citizens in cases of emergency.

As of 1 January, 2011, consular section of the Czech Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal does not issue visas. Applications for visas to enter and stay in the Czech Republic are processed in the regional visa center at the Czech Embassy in Madrid, Spain.

Citizens of Portugal do not require a visa to visit Portugal for stays of up to 90 days.

Schengen (short-term) visa issued by a diplomatic mission of the Czech Republic or of another Schengen state entitles its holder to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic/Schengen area for the period indicated in the visa. 

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
