Priorities of the Czech Embassy in Bern are to strengthen the good relations between the Czech Republic and Switzerland; to develop economic contacts and promote the business interests of Czech companies, focusing especially on easier access to the Swiss job market; to promote the Czech Republic. Other important tasks are to represent the Czech Republic in Liechtenstein; to support the activities of the local Czech community; to provide consular services to Czech nationals.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Issues passports, driving licenses;
  • Deals with citizenship matters;
  • Issues birth, marriage certificates;
  • Allows Czech citizens to participate in national elections;
  • Provides the translation of documents;
  • Assists Czech citizens in cases of emergency.

In case of lost or stolen passport of the Czech Republic or any identification document, it should be immediately reported to the municipal office which issued the lost/stolen document or to the Embassy. A police report must also be obtained.

Holders of Swiss residence permits of all types and Swiss nationals do not need a visa for short term travel (up to 90 days of stay) to the Czech Republic.

The Embassy is closed on Czech national holidays.
