The Danish Embassy helps Danish citizens and foreigners with permanent residence in Denmark, when traveling abroad, by offering counseling before travel. If Danish citizens experience any problems during their trip, the Embassy provides assistance in cooperation with their travel insurance and their tour operator. The Embassy also assists foreign nationals who wish to apply for a visa or a residence and work permit in Denmark. Note that the Embassy does not pay for Danish citizens' expenses during emergencies abroad – these costs should be covered by themselves or by their travel insurance. In addition, the Embassy charges for the services provided. Also, fees increase when contacting the Embassy outside its consular working hours.

In case of lost money or documents on the journey, it is important to report it to the police and get a copy of the police report or receipt of the notification.

In case of a serious illness or death Danish embassy can make sure that Danish police informs the next of kin about it.

The Danish Embassy cannot get Danish citizens out of jail, if they violate host country's laws.

A Schengen visa is issued for the purpose of a short stay (less than 3 months) in Denmark and other Schengen countries.

Non-Lithuanian citizens with residence permit in Lithuania who have been issued certain types of residence permits in Lithuania do not need a visa to enter Denmark. If in doubt as to whether a residence permit entitles to enter and stay in Denmark, please check with the Lithuanian authority that issued the residence permit.
