The Embassy keeps the Danish authorities informed on the development in Brazil in areas of specific interest to Denmark, provides assistance to Danish citizens in the country, and strengthens the Danish exports to Brazil. The Danish Embassy furthermore carries out official relations with Venezuela, Suriname and Guyana.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Registers Danish citizens abroad;
  • Helps with transferring money to return home;
  • Issues Danish passports;
  • Issues Danish driving licences;
  • Contacts a lawyer in case Danish citizen is arrested;
  • Contacts relatives in Denmark;
  • Deals with Danish citizenship matters;
  • Issues marriage certificates;
  • Contacts the insurance company in case of an accident, illness or death of a Danish citizen;
  • Issues visas;
  • Legalizes documents.

If Danish passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the local police. Police notification about the loss/theft of the Danish passport, birth certificate and photo ID will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Embassy.

Brazilian and Venezuelan citizens can stay - but not work - in the Schengen region for 90 days without a visa. On the other hand, Guyanese and Surinamese citizens will require a visa to enter the Schengen region.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
