Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Registers Danish citizens abroad;
  • Helps with transferring money to return home;
  • Issues Danish passports;
  • Contacts the insurance company in case of an accident, illness or death of a Danish citizen;
  • Issues visas;
  • Contacts a lawyer in case Danish citizen is arrested;
  • Contacts relatives in Denmark;
  • Deals with Danish citizenship matters;

  • Legalizes documents.

If Danish passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the local police. Police notification about the loss/theft of the Danish passport, birth certificate and photo ID will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Embassy.

The Embassy has commissioned VFS Global Private Ltd. to operate the Danish Visa Application Centre in Bangkok. Applications for visas and residence and working permits can be submitted without any appointment

In order to travel to Denmark Thai citizens need a Schengen visa or a valid residence and work permit. A visa or residence and work permit must be obtained before departure from Thailand.

Please note that the Embassy in Bangkok also handles visa applications to Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

As per November 14th 2013 all applicants to the Schengen States are requested to submit biometric data – ten fingerprints – as part of the visa application. 

Tourist visit to Denmark documentation checklist:

  • Application form (dully filled in English or Danish and signed by the applicant)
  • Passport photo (The photo should be a passport size colour photo 35–45mm in width, close up of your face measuring between 30-36mm, with light background and not older than 6 months NO retouch)
  • Applicant’s passport (Please make sure that your passport is valid for at least three months beyond return to Thailand, and that the passport has at least two blank pages for a visa sticker)
  • Copy of all pages with previous visas and stamps of the applicants passport(s) (both new and old passport(s) if any.)
  • One extra copy of the data page of the applicants current passport
  • Name or surname change certificate, if applicable (original and copy)
  • Original compulsory travel medical insurance, covering all Schengen countries to be shown + 1 copy to be submitted with the application (valid for all Schengen countries covering medical expense of at least 30,000 Euro, as well as repatriation to Thailand)
  • Flight/Train/Ferry reservation with fixed travel dates of maximum 90 days to Denmark (and other Schengen countries, if the applicant is going to other countries on the same trip)
  • Confirmation of accommodation in Denmark (and other Schengen countries, if the applicant is going to other countries on the same trip)
  • Travel itinerary for the entire trip
  • Original documents confirming employment, private business, school or studies and permission for leave + 1 copy
  • Documentation of funds to cover the trip
  • Application fee according to the Embassies website and fee to VFS

The Embassy´s fees can be paid:

  • In cash in Thai Baht
  • By postal order (issued to Royal Danish Embassy)
  • The Embassy issues an invoice either in Danish kroner (for payment into the Foreign Ministry´s bank account in Danske Bank), or in Thai Baht (for payment into the Embassy´s bank account in Standard Chartered Bank).

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
