The consular section assists Danish citizens and foreign nationals with a Danish residence permit on issues regarding travel advice, civil law, Danish passports, emergency assistance, marriage in Turkey, vaccinations, travel insurance etc. The visa section assists Turkish citizens wishing to apply for a Schengen visa, a residence permit or a re-entry permit to Denmark.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Registers Danish citizens abroad;
• Helps with transferring money to return home;
• Issues Danish passports;
• Contacts the insurance company in case of an accident, illness or death of a Danish citizen;
• Issues visas;
• Contacts a lawyer in case Danish citizen is arrested;
• Contacts relatives in Denmark;
• Deals with Danish citizenship matters;
• Issues marriage certificates;
• Legalizes documents.

If Danish passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the local police. Police notification about the loss/theft of the Danish passport, birth certificate and photo ID will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Embassy.

Citizens of Turkey need visas to visit Denmark.

The visa applications could be submitted at the visa application centre's in Ankara, Istanbul. İzmir, Antalya or Gaziantep. Applications submitted in Ankara will be assessed by The Embassy of Denmark, located in Ankara and applications submitted in Istanbul will be assessed by The Consulate General of Denmark in Istanbul.

Tourist visa requirements:

• Completed application form.
• 2 passport sized (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) coloured photographs with white background taken recently.
• Proof of the existence of family relations, e.g. Original Birth Registration issued by the Civil Registry Office.
• Valid Travel Health Insurance which covers the travel dates.(Travel Health Insurance also available in Visa Centers).
• Flight Ticket (showing all connecting flights) or travel reservations or other proof of intended transport.
• Evidence of hotel reservation or travel plan.
• Proof of means of subsistence.
• If the applicant is employed: permission letter from the employer and/or approval for leave (tasks performed by the applicant, the period s/he has been working and a statement that s/he will return to work after visiting Denmark/Schengen countries should be included), salary slips of the last three months, SGK statement of employment, and SGK statements.
• If applicant is a farmer: farmer certificate issued by the chamber of agriculture.
• If the applicant is self-employed: Company registration in chamber of commerce, e.g. Copy of Chamber of Commerce Registration and Certificate of Activity (Oda Sicil Kayıt Örneği ve Faaliyet Belgesi) and copy of the bulletin of the trade register and statement of taxes payment, e.g. Tax Chart (Vergi Levhası).
• If applicant is retired: proof of pension (either bank account statement or em eklilik cüzdanı).
• If the applicant is a student: original student certificate in English.
• If the applicant is a minor/ under the age of 18 and travelling alone: both parents' Letter of Consent approved by the Public Notary. If one parent is accompanying the child: the other parent's consent is needed. (This condition shall not apply if the travelling parent is a single parent or holds the parental authority alone). If both parents travel together with the child: there is no need for the consent.
• A valid passport issued within the last 10 years and a A4 -sized coloured photocopy.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
