The Dutch Mission in Australia represents the Netherlands as well as advances and safeguards Dutch interests in Australia and the Pacific. The Dutch mission is a term that encompasses both the Embassy in Canberra and the different consulates in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Port Moresby. Next to representing the Netherlands in Australia, the Dutch Mission also safeguards Dutch interests in Papua-New-Guinea, the Salomon Islands, Vanuatu and Nauru.

The Dutch Embassy or consulate can assist their citizens in case of a lost passport, providing a new one or a temporary travel document. Although one is not required to report the loss of a passport to the local police, it is recommended to do so, with a view to a subsequent claim to an insurance company.

Australians intending to spend a maximum of 90 days in the Netherlands (plus Schengen countries) for tourist purposes only, do not require applying for a visa.

The Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) offers an opportunity to young Australians to visit the Netherlands for a period of up to twelve months with the objective of combining a holiday with work experience, thus supplementing their financial resources during their stay.
