The Embassy is Finland's official representative in Singapore. The aim is to promote the interests of Finnish business life and the companies' export and internationalisation, as well as the cooperation in the field of research and education. Promoting the visibility and awareness and providing information on Finland as a highly advanced information society is one of the main functions. Furthermore, Embassy has an important and varied service function: serve both Finnish and Singaporean societies, citizens and companies in the field of politics, economy, culture and consular affairs. Singapore has one of the largest Finnish communities in Asia and the aim is to serve all the Finnish citizens in the best possible way.
Embassy of Finland provides consular services for Finnish citizens and permanent residents. Certain consular services area applicable to the citizens of the Nordic countries and the European Union, as well.
Consular services include passports for Finnish citizens, assistance to Finnish citizens in distress, population registration, notary services and matters relating to military service and Finnish citizenship. Advance voting is also arranged by the Finnish mission. Embassy also provides information about Finnish authorities, and gives general advice in legal and administrative issues.
Services for foreigners include residence permits to Finland. Since November 2005 Schengen visas to Finland are handled and issued by the Royal Danish Embassy according the Nordic cooperation agreement
If Finnish passport is lost, stolen or damaged while abroad, Finnish citizens can get an emergency passport to return home or to continue their travel. An emergency passport is issued for the duration of the travel, but for no longer than 12 months. An emergency passport is issued by the mission. Finnish citizens must report the loss or theft of their passport to the local police and present the notification at the mission when applying for a replacement passport.
Singaporean and Malaysian citizens can stay in Finland and the Schengen area visa-free up to 90 days within the period of 6 months. This 6-month period begins on the day of first entry to a Schengen country.
Service fees should be paid in advance into the Embassy bank account. Please use the applicant's full name as a reference and present a copy of the receipt of the payment when lodging the application at the Embassy.
