The Embassy in Ankara serves as Finland's official representative in Turkey. It seeks to promote political, commercial and economic, and cultural activities and cooperation between the two countries as well as Finland's and Finnish citizens' interests in Turkey. Making Finland better known in Turkey and communicating information about Finland are among the key tasks of the Embassy staff.

Consular services provided:

  • Assistance to Finnish citizens and foreigners permanently living in Finland;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Notarial services;
  • Military service matters;
  • Issuance of passports;
  • Issuance of visas and residence permits;
  • Registers Finnish citizens abroad.

If Finnish passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the local police. A police notification about the loss/theft of the passport will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Embassy or Consulate of Finland.

In order to improve customer service the Finnish Embassy has commissioned VFS Global Private LTD to operate the Visa Centres of Finland in Ankara and Istanbul. From 29th of September onwards Schengen visa applications to Finland will be submitted at the Visa Centre of Finland. Processing and decisions are made by the Embassy.

Visa Centre in Ankara is located in Kavaklidere Mahallesi, Atatürk Bulvari, No: 154, pbx:06680 Cankaya. In Istanbul Visa Centre is located in Cumhuriet Caddesi, No:193, pbx:34380 Harbiye, Sisli.

A Turkish national needs a visa for the Schengen area. Persons holding a special, service or diplomatic passport are an exception; they do not need a visa and are entitled to stay without a visa in the Schengen countries for a period of time not exceeding 90 days within six months.

Visa requirements:

  • A visa application form.
  • One passport sized photograph in color.
  • A passport valid for at least three (3) months following the journey and not older than ten (10) years.
  • Travel insurance.
  • The application form should be accompanied by other documents indicating the purpose, conditions and duration of the visit. These can include confirmed hotel reservations and a private or official letter of invitation. Must have sufficient funds to cover the stay - at least EUR 30 a day.
  • Underage children require parental consent if they intend to travel unaccompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Consular Section of the Embassy is closed on Finnish and Turkish public holidays.
