The Embassy provides these consular services:

• Issues civil status certificates (marriage, birth, death);
• Issues identity cards (national identity card, passport) for French citizens;
• Notarizes copies of documents issued by French authority;
• Assists in obtaining or reinstating French nationality;
• Issues various certificates.
• Assists and advises French citizen on the matters of financial difficulties, arrest and incarceration, illness, serious accident, death, etc.

In case the passport is lost or stolen, French citizens must inform local authorities and obtain a notification which should be translated into French. Consular authorities may issue an emergency passport to allow French citizens return to France.

In case of the arrest and incarceration, Consular Section may inform local authorities that the citizen is under consular protection of France and inquire about the reasons of the arrest. The Embassy may inform the relatives to arrange their visit and may assist in getting a lawyer.

In case of any other difficulties that French citizens may face in Lithuania, the Embassy of France can assist and advice citizens about what should they do and where to refer to. All costs must be covered by French citizens themselves.

Effective May 1, 2009, the Embassy of France in Lithuania no longer issues visas. The Embassy of France in Latvia will be responsible for issuing visas.

Embassy is closed on weekends and on public holidays.
