The Embassy of France in the Duchy of Luxembourg provides these consular services:

• Issues identity cards, passports, residence permits;
• Legalizes documents;
• Issues civil status certificates;
• Assists in matters related to pensions, scholarships, welfare, military service;
• Assists French nationals in case of emergencies;
• Consular protection in cases of arrest, incarceration, serious accidents or illnesses, repatriation;
• Allows French citizens to participate in electoral events.

The visa section of the Consular section was transferred to the General Consulate of France in Brussels.

In case of a stolen French passport, French citizen must report this to the local police authorities and the nearest French embassy or consulate. If a passport was lost, citizen should inform the nearest French embassy or consulate about it. It is also advised to keep a photocopy of a passport separately from the passport.
Issuance of a regular passport is about 2-3 weeks. Emergency passports are issued faster.

The Embassy of France in Luxembourg is closed on weekends and public holidays.
