The Embassy of France in the Duchy of Luxembourg provides these consular services:
- Issues identity cards, passports, residence permits;
- Legalizes documents;
- Issues civil status certificates;
- Assists in matters related to pensions, scholarships, welfare, military service;
- Assists French nationals in case of emergencies;
- Consular protection in cases of arrest, incarceration, serious accidents or illnesses, repatriation;
- Allows French citizens to participate in electoral events.
The visa section of the Consular section was transferred to the General Consulate of France in Brussels.
In case of a stolen French passport, French citizen must report this to the local police authorities and the nearest French embassy or consulate. If a passport was lost, citizen should inform the nearest French embassy or consulate about it. It is also advised to keep a photocopy of a passport separately from the passport.
Issuance of a regular passport is about 2-3 weeks. Emergency passports are issued faster.
