The Embassy's area of consular jurisdiction covers the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Minicoy and Amindive.
Consular services provided by the Consular section are related to the following matters:
- German nationality;
- Civil status (marriage, birth, etc.);
- Passports and identity cards;
- Certificates and apostille;
- Visas;
- Attestation of documents, signatures and copies;
- Issuance of criminal records.
In case of lost or stolen passport while abroad, German citizens may apply for an emergency travel document to return to Germany at the German Embassy or Consulate. Application process is easier, if the applicant can provide photocopies of all lost identity documents.
Holders of Indian Diplomatic Passports do not need a visa to travel to Germany for a short term visit of up to 90 days. Please be prepared to provide proof of travel insurance upon entering Germany.
As this exemption is based on a bilateral agreement, you are kindly requested to check possible visa requirements for transit through third countries and/or onward destinations.
Any form of electronic devices, like mobile phone, cameras, etc. is not allowed to be carried inside the premises of the German Embassy.
