Norwegian nationals, as well as EU-nationals, nationals of member states of the EEA and citizens of Switzerland, do not require a visa or residence permit to enter Germany. Also, a visa is not required for visits of up to 90 days (short term stay) for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement. As a rule, all foreigners require a visa for stays of more than three months or stays leading to gainful employment in Germany. Exemptions apply to EU and EEA (European Economic Area) citizens and Swiss nationals.
Foreigners applying for a visa should be noted that processing of their visa application usually takes up to 3 months, so they should make sure that their Norwegian residence permit does not expire in the meantime.
For security reasons it is not allowed to bring strollers, electronic equipment and larger items. Bags can be left in lockers at the front of the house.
The Embassy is closed on German and Norwegian public holidays.
