For Germans residing in or visiting Singapore, the Consular Section is the liaison point with Germany for all legal matters.

German citizens should obtain a police report which describes how they have lost their passport. They will have to apply for a new passport at the German Embassy in Singapore. Applicants must fill in the Notice of Loss form and hand it in together with the police report.

The processing time for a passport takes 6 weeks. An express passport will take 4 weeks. Children's passports and temporary passport will be issued directly by the German Embassy Singapore. Processing takes one week. The consular officer will inform you about the date of collection on the day you hand in your application. No further notice will be given.

In emergency cases the German Embassy can issue a temporary passport within short notice. The temporary passport is valid for one year. When applying for a temporary passport, applicants must also bring a flight ticket as well as other proof showing that their travel plans are urgent and cannot be delayed.

Singapore citizens in possession of a valid Singaporean passport do not need a visa for airport transit, visit, tourist or business trips. The passport needs to be valid until the end of the scheduled trip. Other nationals might require a visa to enter Germany.

The full notarization in accordance with German law cannot be lawfully executed by a Singaporean notary public. The text to be fully notarized will be drafted by the German Embassy on the basis of the information provided by the applicant in advance, possibly (but not necessarily) on the basis of a draft by a German notary or lawyer. The notarization cannot be done ad hoc, but only after arranging an appointment prior to the notarization.

The fees have to be paid in SGD when submitting the application. The fees will be converted into SGD according to the current exchange rate of the Embassy. Payments in cash or with credit card (Visa, Master) are accepted. If paying with credit card, the transaction will be processed in EUR. Further bank fees may apply. For applicants under the age of 6 no visa processing fee is charged.

The Embassy is closed on German and Singaporean public holidays.
