The Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi provides wide range of services for nationals of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Consular assistance to Hungarian citizens;

  • Issuance of criminal records;
  • Civil status registration (birth, marriage, divorce, birth);
  • Authentication and certification of documents;
  • Legalization of documents;
  • Issuance of passports;
  • Apostille;
  • Issuance of visas.

If you are a national of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, or Sri Lanka you need a visa to visit Hungary for a time not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period (short stay visa). If you are a national of Bangladesh or Sri Lanka you need airport transit visa for transiting between terminals (from Terminal 2A or 2B and or versa) at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Hungary (airport transit visa) too.

Please note that nationals of Bangladesh (only after 1 November 2015), Nepal and Sri Lanka must lodge their visa and airport transit visa application with the German Embassies in Dhaka, Kathmandu and Colombo respectively which issue visa on Hungary’s behalf. The visa application procedure and conditions for issuing visas are the same as if you wish to visit Germany. Therefore, you are advised to refer to the German Embassies’ (in Dhaka, Kathmandu and in Colombo) websites respectively for further enquiries.

Checklist for visa applicants at the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi. Tourist visa:

  • An application form duly filled and signed.
  • A passport which validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Schengen States or, in the case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure from the territory of the Schengen States.
  • 2 passport-size photos no older than 6 months.
  • Paid visa fee of Rs. 5126 (EUR 60).
  • Proof of possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance.
  • The certificate of the travel agency of the prepaid program duly stamped and signed by an authorized person of the agency or in the case of an individual visit the itinerary and the reservation of accommodation provided that you paid a deposit or have to pay a cancellation fee.
  • Employment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the business entity.
  • Education institution enrollment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave if the travel is taking place during the academic year duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the institution.
  • Prearranged accommodation. 
  • Airplane ticket booking.

Visa application is assessed by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary for up to 15 calendar days. This period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 or exceptionally 60 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
