The Embassy provides the following consular services:

  • Issues visas;
  • Issues passports;
  • Issues emergency certificates (one way travel document);
  • Registers birth, change of name, change of date of birth, death;
  • Issues PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) cards and OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) cards;
  • Provides notarial services;
  • Registers Indian nationals abroad.

An Emergency Certificate (one way travel document) which authorises an Indian national to enter India at notified airports (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai), is issued to a citizen of India whose passport has been lost, stolen or damaged with the objective of ensuring their return to India. Indian nationals who have lost their Indian passports while abroad must report the loss to the local police and obtain a police report.

All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.

Tourist Visa is normally issued within three working days upon receipt of visa application with passport in the visa section of the Embassy. Additional 2 working days are taken by the service provider for receiving and disbursing the applications. At least 3 more working days may be taken for non-Dutch nationals.  

Apart from normal fees prescribed for all consular services, an additional service fee to be charged at the rate of Euro 3 per application/service will be made applicable on all consular services including Visa, Passport, OCI, PIO etc with effect from 1st September 2010.

The Embassy is closed on weekends and public holidays.
