If an Indian national who is legally resident in Sweden/Latvia has either lost, damaged his/her Indian Passport or the passport has been stolen, he/she is required to approach the Embassy of India, Stockholm to get a duplicate passport. A duplicate passport, just like a new passport, is valid for travel to all countries and is valid for ten years.

If an Indian national who is on a short visit to Sweden/Latvia and his/her Indian passport is lost, stolen or damaged within the period of validity of his/her Swedish/Schengen visa, the individual is required to approach the Embassy for a travel document, i.e., Emergency Certificate to go back to India.

A tourist visa is only granted to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives etc. 

Swedish citizens need a visa to enter India. All visa applicants except Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holder should apply to the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) M/s Cox & Kings global services in Stockholm, Umeå, Malmö and Riga.

Documents required for a tourist visa:

  • Application form.
  • Passport.
  • Photo.
  • Return ticket (if returning back to Latvia/Sweden) or ticket for onward journey (if going to some other country).

All those applying for visas, whether Swedish or foreign passport holders would have to come personally for the Biometrics procedure at the office of M/s Cox and Kings in Stockholm, Malmö, Umeå and Riga.

Please note, all visa fees (excluding Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holders) for Sweden and Latvia must be paid directly to M/s Cox & Kings Global Services (IVAC).

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
