The Indonesian Embassy's Consular Section serves Indonesian citizens and foreigners residing permanently in Indonesia with matters involving Indonesian authorities, such as passports, notary services and certain specific legal transactions, family law, citizenship and military service. The Consular Section assists Indonesian citizens in distress, gives information on the services provided by Indonesian authorities and the legal protection available to private citizens, and advises on general procedures related to legal or administrative matters in Indonesia and South Africa. Foreign citizens can consult the Embassy's Consular Section on matters related to visas and entry permits.
Citizens of countries neither on the VoA nor Visa-Free lists are required to apply for a visa overseas before travelling to Indonesia. Nationals of ALL countries planning to stay for more than 30 days in Indonesia also have to apply for the appropriate visa (tourist, business, social-cultural, etc.) at an overseas Indonesian Consulate or Embassy before departing for Indonesia, i.e. the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Pretoria or the Indonesian Consulate General in Cape Town.
South African Citizens with valid passports for 6 (six) months from the date of entry can obtain a visa on arrival at any major Indonesian ports of entry for a maximum of 30 days stay.
Tourists who wish to re-enter Indonesia after exiting Indonesia must have another unused visa ready or re-apply for another before entering.
Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
All fees are to be paid through the bank with the proof of deposit slip.
