The Embassy works to promote and protect Irish interests in Belgium whether it is working with the Irish community, promoting Irish economic interest or supporting the strong partnership between the two Governments. The Embassy also provides a range of key consular services.

The Embassy provides these consular services:

  • Visas;
  • Passports;
  • Citizenship;
  • Authenticating documents;
  • Marriage and civil partnership;
  • Emergency assistance.

If Irish passport is lost or stolen, Irish citizen should firstly report the loss or theft to the nearest police station as soon as possible after the event. Then he/she should contact the Embassy or nearest Honorary Consulate to make arrangements for an alternative travel document.

Minimum requirements to apply for an Emergency Travel Document:

  • Applicant's original police report.
  • Two passport photographs.
  • Proof of applicant's flight home.
  • Evidence of applicant's identity/citizenship. If the applicant does not have alternative photo i.d. with him/her in Belgium, he/she will need to ask somebody to bring his/her original long form birth certificate (and civil marriage certificate in the case of a married woman whose passport name is in her married surname), or an old cancelled passport, to a Garda Station in Ireland and fax a copy to the Embassy or applicant's nearest Honorary Consulate.
  • The relevant fee.
  • Depending on the applicant's situation, Irish mission abroad may require additional evidence in support of applicant's application, including a fully witnessed application form, and additional proof of name and address.

Please note that all visitors to the embassy building must sign in and out at reception.

Citizens of Belgium do not need visas to visit Ireland.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
