The Embassy represents the interests of Ireland in Norway and aims to develop stronger Irish-Norwegian relations. The Embassy also provides a consular service to Irish citizens in Norway.
Consular services provided by the Embassy:
- Registration of Irish citizens living abroad;
- Authentication of documents;
- Citizenship matters;
- Registration of marriage abroad;
- Foreign birth registration;
- Issuance of passports;
- Assistance to Irish citizens in case of emergencies.
If Irish passport is lost or stolen, the following steps should be taken:
- Incident should be immediately reported to the Embassy;
- Police should be informed and a police report, confirming that the incident has been reported, obtained;
- Two passport photographs should be obtained;
- An application for an emergency passport should be submitted to the Embassy - Section 6 of the application form (Statement of loss) should be completed.
Once the necessary checks have been made, the Embassy may issue an Emergency Travel Document, for which a fee of 150 NOK is payable.
Passport holders of Norway do not need an entry visa for Ireland.
All citizens of non-EU countries, whether they require a visa or not, are subject to immigration control at the point of entry to Ireland.
The Embassy of Ireland in Oslo only accepts visa applications from persons permanently residing in Norway.
The Embassy will be closed on public holidays but will continue to provide emergency assistance to Irish citizens.
