The Embassy of Ireland in Bucharest is also accredited to the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Citizenship services;
  • Marriage abroad.

If Irish passport is lost or stolen, Irish citizen should firstly report the loss or theft to the nearest police station as soon as possible after the event.  The police will issue him/her with a "Dovada" confirming that he/she has made the report.  Irish citizen will be required to present this when applying for a replacement travel document. Secondly, he/she must contact the Embassy. The Embassy can issue an Emergency Travel Certificate.   Irish citizen will need to present the police report, two passport photographs and to fill in a passport application form to apply for an Emergency Travel Certificate.  There is a fee of €6 for this service. 

Citizens of Romania do not need a visa to travel to Ireland.

Macedonia is accredited to the Embassy of Ireland in Romania from 02 July 2012. All Visa applications for Macedonian citizens should be forwarded to the Embassy of Ireland in Romania from this date.

All consular fees can be also paid in RON. The fee can be paid directly at the Embassy or by bank transfer.

Some visa applicants are not required to pay a fee. This includes Visa required spouses and certain family members of EEA citizens (including Irish nationals). Proof of the relationship must be provided with the application.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
