Irish nationals seeking information as to whether or not they are visa-required to travel to a certain country should contact the nearest Diplomatic or Consular mission of that country
All citizens of non-EU countries, visa-required or otherwise, are subject to immigration control at the point of entry to Ireland. Also, it should be noted that a Schengen Visa is not valid for Ireland. While Ireland is a member of the European Union, Ireland is not party to the Schengen Agreement, and visa-required nationals and holders of Schengen Visa will need to apply for a separate visa for Ireland. A visa-required national who holds a valid Luxembourg residence permit ("Permis de séjour" or "Carte de séjour") will also need to apply for a visa for Ireland.
Visa applications which can be decided upon in Luxembourg can usually be processed within 2-3 weeks. Applications made in person at the Embassy may be paid for in cash. Under no circumstances should cash be sent by post - the Embassy will not accept any responsibility in such cases. In case applicants want to pay by cheque, they should note that the Embassy can only accept cheques drawn from a Luxembourg bank account. Cheques should be made payable to: "Embassy of Ireland, Luxembourg". It is also possible to pay by bank transfer.
