The Consular Section of the Israeli Embassy in Wellington provides consular assistance and services to overseas Israelis, which include citizen registration, identification documents and passport related matters, emergency travel documents, legalization of documents, etc. The Consulate also issues visas to foreign nations who wish to visit Israel and offers a range of other services and information on Israel.
Security Instructions for Visitors:
- All visitors are required to bring their Israeli identification, or if one is are not an Israeli citizen, he/she should bring an official form of identification.
- Every visitor and his belongings will be required to undergo a security check.
- For security purposes, no personal objects will be allowed into the Mission, including handbags, mobile phones and electronic devices.
- Do not bring large handbags or suitcases to the mission.
- The mission's security directives apply to people in the consular waiting room. The instructions of the security staff must be obeyed at all times.
In a case of a lost/stolen/destroyed passport or travelling document, the applicant needs to contact the Consular Section at the Embassy to receive further instruction.
NOTE: New Zealand citizens traveling to Israel as tourists do not require a visa. Forms are provided on arrival to Israel, and a 3-month tourist visa is issued. Only those traveling to Israel on official business (such as work, study, etc.) require a visa.
By Israeli law, Israeli citizens must report any change in their marital status/birth of a new child within 30 days.
The Consular Section can authenticate signatures on power of attorney, declaration and affidavit matters. Alternatively one can sign the documents in front of a local Notary Public. In this case, the documents must be stamped with an Apostille stamp.
NOTE: It is one’s responsibility to verify with the Official Authority in Israel that signing the document in front of a local Notary Public (instead of the Consul) is acceptable.
