Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given  on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.

All foreigners intending to enter Italy must provide the documentation required to justify the reasons and duration of their stay as well as, in some prescribed cases, the availability of adequate economic means and lodging. Nationals of some countries may require a visa to enter Italy. In some cases visitors need a visa, application for which can be made at the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Representations in their country of residence.

Nationals of Singapore do not need a visa to enter Italy. They may enter Italy with a valid passport.
