Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Issuance of passports;
• Issuance of various certificates (birth, death, marriage, divorce, criminal record, etc.);
• Citizenship matters;
• Issuance of visas;
• Registration of Japanese citizens abroad;
• Notarial matters;
• Assistance to Japanese citizens in cases of emergency.

In case of lost or stolen Japanese passport, holders of the lost/stolen passport should immediately report it to the local police.

Indian citizens need short term (for a stay of up to 90 days for tourism, business, attending conference, visiting friends, etc., that does not include paid activities) visas to visit Japan. 

Tourist visa requirements:

• Application with photo;
• Passport;
• Travel booking (travel itinerary and hotel booking);
• Document to prove ability to pay for travel expenses: a) Latest income tax return; b) Bank statements of last 6 months.

Visa processing time: 
One full working day, excluding the day of submission. The passport will be returned on the third working day.

Visa fees for Indian nationals:
Single or multiple entry visa: Rs.440
Transit visa: Rs.40

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
