Kenyan passports are now available for ten (10) years. If at anytime a passport contains no further space for visas, a new passport must be obtained.

CAUTION: Passports are valuable documents and should not be altered in any way or allowed to pass into possession of unauthorized person. If lost, withdrawn or destroyed the fact and circumstances should be immediately reported to the Kenya Embassy and the local police. New passports can only be issued in such circumstances after exhaustive enquiries.

When applying for a new passport, we advise that you should apply for it well in advance, at least 6 MONTHS BEFORE EXPIRY OF THE PASSPORT OR YOUR TRAVEL DATE. It takes 8 weeks or more to process the Passport in Kenya.

Note: Incomplete Applications will not be accepted or forwarded to Nairobi

To apply for an Emergency Travel Document one will need the following: One-way emergency travel document is issued free for repatriation to Kenya.

Requirements include:

  • Interview at the Embassy
  • Two passport size photos
  • Proof of Kenyan citizenship
  • Police Report if passport is lost
  • Confirmed flight booking/ticket

Legalization of Documents
The following is required for a document to be legalized or certified at the Kenya Embassy, Vienna:

  • Two copies of the document; (one original and one copy). The copy to be retained at the Embassy and the original to be returned to the applicant, together with the original receipt issued by the Embassy)
  • A self addressed, stamped envelope
  • The document should bear proof of certification (seal and signature) by the concerned registry e Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nairobi
  • Legalization/Certification fee of Euros 15 for each original document in cash

Single Entry Visa for Holiday/Business or Visit

  • Duly filled Application Form
  • Original Passport with validity of not less than 6 months
  • One passport size photo
  • Registration data (Meldezettel) for Non-Austrians
  • Flight itinerary
  • Self-addressed, stamped and registered envelope for return of passport
  • Fee: € 40.00 (Note: With effect from 1st July 2011, for all applicants.)

Visa processing takes 4 days. Normally, an applicant will be advised at the time of applying on when to pick up their passport within this time frame. Visa fee is paid only in cash.
