Luxembourg Embassy and the ambassador in Portugal are representatives of the state and its political, consular and Luxembourg government services abroad.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

• Issuance of civil status documents;
• Issuance of passports;
• Social services (welfare, scholarships, etc.);
• Issuance of visas;
• Assistance in cases of emergency.

The loss or theft of a Luxembourg passport must be immediately reported to the police. A declaration of loss or theft issued by the police will be needed when applying for a new passport at the Luxembourg diplomatic mission.

The Union (EU, EEA and the Swiss Confederation) citizens have the right to enter the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and reside in Luxembourg for up to three months, if they are holders of either a valid identity card or a valid passport.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
