The Embassy of Malaysia in Vienna was established in 1974. Since 1977, when several of the United Nations agencies established their headquarters in Vienna, the Embassy also assumed a multilateral role and responsibility as the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations Offices at Vienna (UNOV) as well as the other international organisations in Vienna.
The Embassy is also accredited to the Slovak Republic. In an effort to bring its bilateral relations with Slovakia to a higher level, Malaysia had officially appointed Mr. Igor JUNAS, the Chairman of the Bratislava Regional Chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman/Managing Director of Kerametal as its first Honorary Consul to Slovak Republic on 28 April 2006 in Bratislava. Mr. Junas then was inaugurated as Malaysia’s first Honorary Consul to Slovak Republic on 18 May 2006. Mr. Igor Junas and his wife, Mrs. Sona Junasova can be contacted at the following:

The Consular Office of the Malaysian Embassy provides all the standard consular services, such as assistance to Malaysian citizens with travel documents, legal issues, and various emergencies. Only a few Malaysian Missions overseas are given the authority to issue travelling documents / passport to Malaysians abroad. For missions without the authority, applications can still be made through our Malaysian Mission who would then submit the application to the Immigration Department of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. Apply for new passport / renewal at the nearest Malaysian Mission office by filling in a form provided. Supporting documents required with the application are:
- Identification document that confirms the applicant's citizenship
- Identification Card
- Passport
- 3 passport size photograph
If ones passport is lost or stolen, it is necessary to report it to nearest police station. An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel home to Malaysia (one way trip).
Malaysian citizens residing abroad must register with the Consular Register corresponding to the district where they live. Registration allows them to renew their documentation, to be able to prove their residence abroad and to participate in elections called in Malaysia, except municipal elections, as well as to request consular assistance in situations of need.
