  • Report any arrest/detention/death of Malaysian citizens abroad to the Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malaysia.
  • Assist in transferring emergency funds from relatives and/or friends in Malaysia.
  • Issuance of Emergency Certificate.
  • Repatriation of deceased persons to Malaysia.

In case of a lost passport an application must be submitted by post or in person at the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra. The applications are accepted between 9.00 - 11.00 (by appointment). The duration of the process is 5 working days, after all the required documentation is presented. The applicant will be notified via e-mail or phone thereafter and must come in person to Malaysian High Commission in Canberra for completing the process of issuing the new passport.

In an emergency the High Commission can issue an emergency certificate. The validity period is up to the jurisdiction of Immigration Officer and it will be valid for Single Journey only.
