The Embassy provides these consular services:

  • Issues travel documents to Moldovan citizens willing to return to Moldova but unable to do so because their passports were stolen, damaged, expired (issued travel document is valid for 30 days and can not be extended);
  • Transcribes documents of civil status (birth, marriage, divorce, death, change of name/surname);
  • Notary services;
  • Registers Moldovan citizens temporarily or permanently residing in Lithuania;
  • Accepts applications from persons willing to acquire Moldovan citizenship;
  • Assists Moldovan citizens in cases of missing persons, theft or loss of documents, arrest, death.

As of January 1, 2014, the Embassy does not provide services on issuance of passports. Moldovan citizens in Lithuania may apply for such services at the Moldovan Embassy in Latvia: Zigfrida Annas Meierovica bulvāris 14, Riga, LV -1050, Latvia (www.letonia.mfa.md) , phone: +371 6735 91 60, fax: +371 6 735 91 65.

Citizens of member states of the European Union, U.S., Canada, Norway, Iceland, Swiss Confederation and Japan do not need a visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The period of stay for citizens of countries not requiring visas should not exceed 90 days for 6 months after first crossing the border of the Republic of Moldova.

The Embassy does not accept personal checks or cash - payment will be made by bank transfer to the account of the Embassy, only in Euros.

In case of involvement in human trafficking or knowledge of someone involved in it, also in cases of lost/stolen documents, Moldovan citizens must immediately report it to local authorities and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova.
