Since Estonia joined the EU in 2004, the main tasks of the Embassy are economic and -to a lesser extent-political co-operation. Although Estonia is a country with a relatively small population, the bilateral economic relations are strong: the Netherlands is the third largest investor in the country and the eighth largest trade partner. More and more Dutch businessmen find their way to Estonia. The staff of the Embassy will be happy to assist one with suggestions and making contacts.

The consular office has been removed from the Embassy in 2012. This means that for passport applications, one has to go to the Netherlands Embassy in Helsinki (or to the Netherlands, even at Schiphol airport it is possible to apply for a passport).

In spite of the withdrawal of the consular task from the Embassy, Dutch citizens who require consular assistance can come to the Embassy.
