From 1 February, 2008 the Netherlands Embassy in Vilnius does not issue visas anymore. Persons are kindly requested to contact the Netherlands Embassy in Riga for visa issues. However, it is possible to apply for a Dutch passport at one of the Netherlands embassies in the region, like the Netherlands embassy in Warsaw.
If planning a short stay in the Netherlands or the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, persons may need a visa depending on their nationality. Netherlands is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries issue a common visa, the Schengen visa. The visa for the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom is a non-Schengen visa. The visa is valid for all parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. For a stay of up to 90 days, a person will require a Schengen visa if he/she is a national of a country whose nationals require a visa. The processing of visa applications usually takes up to 15 days. But it can sometimes take up to 60 days, for instance if additional inquiries such as security screening are necessary.
In case of lost passport abroad, it is not required to report the loss of a Dutch passport to the local police, but it recommended to do so, with a view to a subsequent claim to your insurance company. If a person loses his/her passport abroad, the nearest Dutch embassy or consulate can help obtain a new passport or temporary travel document.
The Embassy is closed on weekends and Lithuanian and Dutch holidays.
